Yoyowiki is back online!
I have gotten numerious emails in the past couple weeks, and people are asking “where is yoyowiki?” I have been long delaying the answer hopping that I could get it back up and running before I had to say anything, and sure enough, we are back online. Yoyowiki was offline because our previous hosting comany was no longer able to continue providing free hosting for us. It was what it was and we moved on. I went out and found a hosting company of my own and gave them some money and uploaded Yoyowiki and then I screamed and cursed for about a week as I fervently posted messages on forums in an attempt to get the wiki back up and running. Mind you everything that I know about php and mysql I have learned from running Yoyowiki and I keep learning more as I do more stuff. After about a week of working on it I had gotten it to a point that it was looking at the mysql database and had the right username and password for the database, the wiki knew where it was located…. but it wasn’t loading, period.
Previously I had been getting error messages so that I would know where to look for a problem but after I got through all the errors, there was just nothing. So I turned to Harper Reed. Harper had helped me out in the past with some mediawiki stuff and I knew that he was just the guy to help me again, and help he has. Harper offered to host the Yoyowiki and get it running again, so he has the files and the database and now it is just a matter of time before the wiki is up and running again. I would like to thank everyone for their help and interest in the wiki, and a huge thanks to Harper for getting it running again.

p.s. There are still errors, but there are error messages. We are closer than ever
Web 2.0, the next generation
I have writen the last several blog posts in Writely. It’s an online word processor that is owned by Google. With their recent acuisition of Youtube, I guess the entire internet is owned by Google these days. Anyway, Writely is a great example of web 2.0. Web 1.0, in 1999, was all about making pointless shit and selling it for billions of dollars, things like amused.com, hampsterdance, and geocities. All of these companies had no business model but they attracted money from venture capitol with the hopes that the company would somehow hit the public interest and make billions of dollars. Of course this didn’t happen. The internet is several years past the dot com bubble burst and now we are seeing real inovation and technology being developed with programs like Writely that actualy have some value. Writely is both collaborative and robust in it’s word processing. Multiple users can be editing a document at the same time. You can save your documents to disc in word format, open-office format, html format and of course pdf format. You can post to your blog directly from the Writely interface. You can save all revsions and view changes between different revisions in a fashion that is very similar to mediawiki. Writely is doing it right, and it’s still in beta. Ahh Web 2.0.

The Bonfire of the weekend
I have had a great weekend so far. Â Yesterday I sat around and watched the directors commentary on Serenity. Â Joss Whedon has a lot of passion for the things that he makes and his directors commentary shows that passion, it’s a great look at the man behind the curtain.
You might have noticed that yoyowiki is still not back up. Â I have a deal going that should get the wiki back up and running within this next week. Â I hope that you can hold me to that.
Last night I went to a bonfire with Lindsay, it was awesome and now my pants smell like muskeet.
I want to leave you with a video for the Conference Bike. I think this would be an awesome fun afternoon so ride one of these things around. Â Someone needs to start renting these in the Twin Cities asap.

p.s. Does anyone know how to turn off this damn wysiwyg editor in wordpress? I hate it.
IT’S PARTY TIME!
Since moving servers I have had some problems with mysql databases. Â Today I had my first real sucess, I managed to stumble trough the moving of my photo gallery, found here. Â You might notice that it’s no longer at the subdirectly pictures.floor42online.com, but you’ll be happy to know that there is still a redirect so you don’t have to update your bookmarks. After I moved the photo gallery I also upgraded it to the latest version of coppermine (1.4.9). Â You might not notice a big difference, but it’s got a slightly better layout than the previous version. Â Cheers.

The loop
Some of you might remember me jubulantly writing about the new show on Fox called “The Loop”. It is the most refreshing new show on tv, and somehow Fox renewed it for a new season. Our good friends over at myspace have the entire first season up for your viewing pleasure here. Check it out, because it’s really super duper fun.

New Goldeneye Source Beta Trailer
Well, I guess I will completely re-write this blog post. We seem to be having some technical difficulty here at schalicto.com, but fear not for I shall prevail in this fight with the internet. Do you remember playing Goldeneye for the Nintendo 64? Those late nights at Iversons house are some of my memories that define my teenage years. Goldeneye was the first muliplayer FPS, and it is still one of the most fun, except by todays standars, it looks like crap. So some dudes over at www.goldeneyesource.com are recreating the game using the Source Engine from Half Life 2. Everything in the source engine looks beautiful, in fact in most cases it looks better than real life (rl). Goldeneye Source is my most antisipated game at the moment. The original blog was a link to the trailer for the videogame, but like so many things these days the trailer was taken down by Metro Goldwyn Mayer because the guys at Goldeneye Source don’t have the permission to recreate this game.Â
Does that sound stupid to anyone else? There is a game that is beloved by millions of people that promotes James Bond and the studio isn’t interested in promoting it’s progress onto a new platform. MGM needs to do something to make James Bond cool again and I don’t think that Daniel Craig is the answer, and remaking Casino Royal (for the third time) isn’t the answer either. Personaly I like Daniel Craig, but most people I talk to arn’t pleased with the idea of him as James Bond, he isn’t particularly attractive (in fact he is down right homley) and he doesn’t seem to carry himself with the suaveness that James Bond requires. However I like him because he seems pretty badass and the trailers are pretty good. Am I don’t ranting? I think so.
