Full Screen and Fiction Literature
In a moment of weakness I went to Best Buy and purchased Clerks II. And in a moment of great stupidity I purchased the “Full Screen” version. When do we get to make the switch? Why doesn’t full screen fill up my screen? More and more people are getting wide screen TVs and at some point the nomenclature “Full Screen” will have to denote the wide screen format and those sad suckers left with the 4:3 TVs will have to live with the letterboxing. The 4:3 format for movies on VHS or DVD was the worst idea ever, the industry should have done letterboxing and only letterboxing from the very beginning. I’m watching my poorly picked out DVD right now and I’m getting a little sick of the pan-and-scan and I find it irritating when the actors are cropped a little too much. Ish.
I’ve been reading a bunch of essays for school and I’m loving it. The book is the “Best Required Essays 2006″. Last year I read the “Best Required Non-Required Reading 2005″ and I found it very tedious and I started thinking that all the stuff that I actually enjoy reading, Wikipedia, blogs, and graphic novels. Two of the three of those are entirely non-fiction pieces of literature, which leads me to believe that I don’t like reading fiction. And then I realized that all of the fiction books that I have read in the past five years have been books on tape.
So there you have it, down with “Wide Screen” in favor of calling it “Full Screen” like it should be and I hate reading fiction.

You Can Do Dat – GOSHone, A hiphop video about how awesome laptops are
This is a new video by GOSHone, who is an animator by day, and must have pooled all of his collective film knowledge into creating this masterpiece. I’m straight trippin’ ’cause this has got to be a low budget flick, but it sure doesn’t feel like it. It’s just a great example of what someone can do if they put their mind to it.
digg story
Thanks for sharing this one Doc.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force Attacks a whole City!
First off I would like to say that Cartoon Network had nothing to do with this, it was Adult Swim. Adult Swim is a separate entity, Cartoon Network goes off the air every night at 9 and Adult Swim starts, sort of like Nick at Night.
Next, the packages had been in the city for weeks before anyone said anything! at night they would like up in all their mooninite glow and people in the know would chuckle when they saw them.
Finally, did you see the product that they mistook for a bomb? It wasn’t encased in anything, it was just a circuit board with lights on it and some batteries, I don’t claim be a bomb expert or anything but doesn’t there have to be an explosive element in order for it to be a bomb? A two year old could have looked at it and told you that it was not a bomb. The board and wires and everything were fully exposed and it wasn’t hiding anything.
I think it’s obvious that Adult Swim didn’t do anything wrong here, the other cities with these devices didn’t even take notice and it was weeks before anyone said anything in Boston. It was obviously a cartoon character and the police over reacted. Then when Turner Broadcasting called and said that it was their marketing the police didn’t believe them, they said “There are lots of leads that we are following up on, and that is one of them”. Turner said “HEY IT’S US!” and the police just dawdled around following up on leads. I know police have to cover their ground, but the cartoon character is a turner product, and they are saying they did it, you gotta put two and two together and realized your an idiot.

The goal and the assignment
I have been a really bad blogger, and what’s worse is that I have been an even worse writer. In the past three months I have barely written anything worth reading on this blog and even my forum posts have gone from being poetical and sweet to being short and snide. I could contribute it to a lot of things, but the fact is I have been writing less and what I do write is sub-par.
I’ve kind of been in a creative rut, I haven’t been reading books and until recently podcast’s have been out too.
I have three major goals…
- To be a better writer
- That doesn’t mean write more, necessarily, it means that I need to start writing things that people might be interested in reading.
- Everything that I write needs to be better than the last so it is an upward line on a graph charting my progress.
- To own lots of property
- Not just stuff, but land, land with houses that people pay me for. If my options are go to work and make money or stay home and make money… we’ll you can guess which options I’ll take.
- Increase knowledge
- I think I might have just thrown this one in to get to three, I might not really have three goals. But you get the idea.
The current assignment is three thousand words on the topic of the Arab/Israeli conflict. That’s more than I have written on any topic since high school, if ever.
To that end I need to start smartening up again with documentaries and books and hopefully podcast’s. It’s time for me to start writing about things besides yo-yo’s and technology. I just got out of class, so I am full of words right now, but if you keep checking back you’ll know how it’s going.
