Michael Moore hates america
I was watching the movie Sicko last night and I feel very certain that Michael Moore does hate America. This is what the movie sounded like “Yadda yadda, American healthcare sucks because our government sucks, blah blah blah move to France”. The throws a lot of stuff out there be he doesn’t site any sources or give me the impression that any of this stuff is fact, since seeing two movie that expose Moore’s work being largely fictional he is going to have to work a lot harder to prove to me that he is legit. He does, however, provide some interesting information about the crooked drug companies.
I’m not exactly sure how I am supposed to wrap my capitalistic head around this one. I want Doctors to be able to make how ever much they can make in private practice or where ever they do their doctoring. I want drug companies to make as much as they are worth too, but does that mean being crooked? I don’t think Ayn Rand covered what to do about a business that is obviously crooked.
Oh well, Sicko is not Moore’s best movie to date and I think it will reflect that at the box office.

Nothing is crooked. The free market is void of corruption.
Then again, on paper communism works.
Youa re an idiot.
What facts do you need?
We dont have health care. Companies make millions.
Other POORER countries take BEtter care of their own.
Dont really care for M Moore either…BUt he is right on this one. Wake up
Your comment becomes immediately invalid when you called me an idiot. Better luck next time Chad.
Nothing is free, the costs are just hidden. They COULD take more out of my taxes and pay for government-grade health care, but that’s just gross.
Yes, the drug companies are making tons of money on a cornered market. But on the other hand, if people would stop demanding to have a new prescription every time they left the doctor’s office and at least tried to take care of themselves while they are healthy, it wouldn’t be so bad.
I just saw this movie today, and I just have a few of things to say about it.
1. Michael Moore is a sensationalist. There were some really annoying scenes in this movie. But that doesn’t mean that the thrust of his message is not on target. An inordinate number of conversations in this country seem to lead to the inadequacy of american healthcare. In fact danielle has a canadian friend who finds it quite annoying that it seems to come up so frequently in this country, unlike in her home country.
2. Healthcare sucks because it is healthcare. Any system that tries to heal and help people is going to suck. You don’t feel good, thus you want to feel better, and that will not happen fast or easily. sorry. Every nation complains about health care. Which MM did not show. The same friend I mention above, her mother had to get an X ray at 4 in the morning! This was her only option for a minor problem. That sucks.
3. The health care industry in the US no longer cares about helping people feel better. This is a sad truth and I didn’t need MM to tell me that. I have heard it direct from people I know working for Johnson and Johnson, and Blue cross blue shield. (not bitter employees either.) They care about profit. Only profit. Which means we are already paying way more than the care we are getting is worth. If they make a profit, someone paid too much and didn’t get treated.
I don’t know the solution to this. Nationalized healthcare seems like it could be a good step. I will have to see how I like the Healthcare system in Japan. I know it will suck, I just hope it sucks less.
