Movie Trailer Review, Episode 14

Posted on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 in Movie Trailer Reviews

I went and saw Hot Rod with the wife… more on this later.

Good Luck Chuck

This looks like a terribly superficial and illogical film.  The trailer tells us that women think that Chuck is lucky and if they sleep with him they will find their true love, of course Chuck wants to find his true love so he is viewed as very unlucky… until he finds the one.  It’s movies like this that make me hate these kind of movies.  The trailer was awful.  The film is directed by first timer Mark Helfrich and it’s written by television kids show scribe Josh Stolberg (who, despite a writing credit on Avatar, seems to work on generally bad projects).

Mr. Woodcock

What the hell happened to this movie?  You might remember that I reviewed a trailer for this film way back in Movie Trailer Review, Episode 5 (November 22, 2006).  Obviously the film has suffered a couple of delays.  I was interested in the film then, but I’ve completely lost interest now.

Dragon Wars

ROFLCOPTER!!!  Is this for real?  Someone is playing a prank, right?  Who thought this was a good idea?  I guess the plot is a bunch of Dragons wake up and start fighting each other in the cities of the world.  Directed by some Korean director/actor and staring nobody of merit the film Dragon Wars looks worst than Dungeons and Dragons and Alone in the Dark, combined.

I broke Yo-Yo Wiki again. So what? Wanna fight about it? Hopefully it’ll be fixed by tomorrow and better than ever. Hopefully.

Things to do on Yo-Yo Wiki

Posted on Monday, August 13, 2007 in Josh Rants

1. Update to the latest version of mediawiki or Yo-Yo Wiki
2. Try installing the Bad Behavior Akismet Spam hack on mediawiki
3. Get prizes in place for the next Yo-Yo Wiki contest

This Bad Behavior extention looks pretty cool. I would love to be able to open Yo-Yo Wiki back up to non-registered users without worrying about spam. We are still getting spam posts but in a very managable level, I’m pretty sure that the spam is coming from actual people and not bots. Wilfred wanted to install a captcha plugin, but I’m pretty sure that wouldn’t help because our spam problem isn’t coming from bots in the first place. Anyone have any experiance with the Bad Behavior extention? I’d love to hear from any success/failure.

Ron Paul : Stop Dreaming

Freestyles and hanging out

Sitting right outside the main room at the Rosen Plaza right now rocking some free wifi and feeling pretty dumb for paying for two days of internet service in my room.  There are people passing clubs, diaboloing, and Steve Chase is trying to teach someone how to do a three ball juggling trick.  Oh, there goes Dale Oliver.  All the qualifying and pre-qualifying is finished and tonight at seven we get to see the first round of finals.  I actually sat down and watched some of the 1A qualifying rounds today and I can say with authority that Mark Montgomery and Black are the raddest yo-yoers on the planet.  That’s all for now, be back later.

Late at night from Orlando Florida

Posted on Friday, August 3, 2007 in Josh Rants

I’m at the World Yo-Yo Contest in Orlando Florida right now.  I’ve had two fun filled days of yo-yoing and meeting people.  It’s one of the coolest contests I have ever been to just because of the sheer number of people combined with the fact that they are all in the same room.  I’ve met everyone that I wanted to meet, so if I haven’t met you….

Ed Haponik is every bit of a bad-ass as you might imagine.

I’m a little tired.

I can’t believe that there are still two more days of this awesome time fun ahead of me.

I’ve taken lots of pictures.  Check them out.

Day one.

Day two.
