Ron Paul is great, he has everything that a real Republican needs. He makes me happy - mostly.
He seems to want to get rid of the separation between church and state. This seems horribly at odds with his stance on everything else. Why privatize schools and yet make Christianity the law of the land? I’d probably still vote for him, but I wouldn’t feel so great about it.
After your news about Ron Paul, and mass support, I had to give him a look, since none of the other candidates are attractive, and HilaryCare scares the hell out of me…. Ron Paul reminds me of the kid you always thought was going to come to school with an AK-47. He has some sound thoughts and principles, but not all of them seem very realistic, or viable. But you have spun my interest to see more come from him.
Thats an interesting article of Paul’s about Christmas. It definitely seems out of place with the rest of Paul’s libertarian sentiments. Especially perplexing is his idea that our founding fathers were Christians and that the constitution is based somehow on the morality of the new testiment. The constitution and other early documents of America are ripe with Deist sentiment…you never hear references to Christ or Jesus in any of those documents….just references to “God”.
It is worrying, but not likely to be an issue, since Mr. Paul would never be able to run as a Republican, even if he won the primary.
He does, however seem to be one of those people that would like to believe that “Under God” has always been in the pledge of allegiance, instead of something that was added in the 50s.
Oh well, no candidate is perfect, all we have to work with are approximations.

I have never heard him say anything about wanting to make Christianity the law of the land

He very definitely, and in no uncertain terms, is for abolishing the separation between Church and State.

I like Ron Paul…but I’m voting blue.
