Movie Trailer Review, Episode 21

Cloverfield.  It’s just a wow.  Go see it.  Or don’t go see it because you don’t deserve it.  A bunch of new trailers.

Me & You, Us, Forever

I don’t know what to make of this movie.  The trailer was just the worst thing to watch and the titles were all jaggy because apparently they didn’t expect it to be shown on DLP.  It’s about this guy who gets a divorce and seeks out his High School sweetheart.

Hellboy II; The Golden Army

Directed by Guillermo Del Toro who also did the first Hellboy and then went off and made a name for himself as a fantastic director and so they had him back to direct the sequel.   This is a strange trailer and I was totally with it up until it revealed itself as a trailer for Hellboy II, and then it completely fell apart for me.  The character design and CG on Hellboy proper looks awesome, but based on this trailer I don’t have a lot of faith in the rest of the movie.

Rambo

I mean, it’s Rambo, how could it be bad?  Rocky Balboa was great, right?  The trailer is pretty tight.

Jumper

I’ve been hearing buzz about this movie, but this is the first time I have seen anything about it.  It’s about a kid who can teleport though space.  Jumper is directed by Doug Liman who has a production sheet a mile long and he directed the first Bourne movie as well as Go, Swingers, Heist… so he’s about 50% in my book.  The trailer had some plot and some explosions but it explicitly didn’t make me excited about the movie or make me want to see it at all.

Step Up 2 The Streets

Now, I didn’t see the first Step Up and when someone in the audience said "They made a sequel?" I didn’t exactly know that there was a first Step Up.  The movie looks like a cross between Save The Last Dance and Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo.  The trailer featured a lot of crazy cool dancing and that might actually make it worth watching… but I doubt it.

Iron Man

Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark; Iron Man.  This movie is directed by Jon Favreau whom I love even when he is making something terrible.  The trailer was cool and funny and I think the movie is going to be great.

The Ruins

This reminds me a lot of the film Touristas with a supernatural aspect.  A group of sexy coeds are on spring break in Mexico when the decide to go on an archeological dig where they unleash and unknown evil.  Whoops!  That sounds like it might be about as big of a mistake as this film is unto itself!

Star Trek

J.J. Abrams… creator of Lost and producer/creative force behind Cloverfield re-imagines Star Trek; The Motion Picture.  I just don’t think life can get any better than this.

Phew, that was a lot of movie trailers.

  1. I like how industrial startrek looked; burly arcwelding ayn randian . . . maybe the commander will be less contemplative and more masculine (bellacose, cavaliere)
