There goes my hero

Watch him as he goes.

Just some stuff I noticed.  I watched In The Valley of Elah because Tommy Lee Jones is nominated for an Oscar.  The movie is almost entirely fantastic.  It’s a movie that you have to be patient to watch but it gets where it’s going and ties up all the loose ends.  Interestingly enough it is a far superior movie to both Juno and Michael Clayton and yet it didn’t get a best picture nomination.

Then I realized something about the best picture nominations, none of them are even remotely political.  I don’t think there is any underlying conspiracy but I think people are sick of their movies being filled with the Iraq war.

I will be watching Sweeny Todd today and I’ll bring you a round up of my thoughts on the best actor category.

Lindsay and I also saw Gone Baby Gone and it was mostly fantastic.  And I’m not saying that Ben Affleck should get an Oscar for best director but Gone Baby Gone was directed much better than the aforementioned crappy films.  Casey Affleck on the other hand needs to learn how to open his mouth when he talks.
